PM: Russia’s GDP at pre-pandemic level, still under covid impact

MOSCOW, Sep 8 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached the pre-pandemic levels in June, but the impact of the coronavirus still remains, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on Wednesday.

“Our economy recovered already in June: Russia’s GDP reached the pre-pandemic levels,” Mishustin said.

“We will have to take into account the coronavirus factor; it is too early to talk about victory. But even in these conditions, we can already move forward and solve large-scale strategic tasks.”

The Russian government will extend a moratorium on scheduled inspections of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) for 2022.

“The government has decided to extend the moratorium on scheduled inspections of small enterprises for the next year. … The moratorium will affect about 100,000 SMEs,” Mishustin said.

Mishustin also said that the government plans to discuss a 10-year strategy for the development of Russia’s financial market, which is now being drafted, until the end of 2021.

“A strategy for the development of the financial market for the next 10 years is now being drafted. … We plan to discuss it with the government until the end of the year,” Mishustin said.

The strategy will become a sectoral strategic plan, which is aimed at determining the main priorities, long-term goals and development tools for all sectors of the financial market.
